Coca-Cola CEO Promises Further Innovation, Hints At Further Acquisitions

February 5, 2018: 12:00 AM EST
Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey continues to call attention to his company’s need for ongoing innovation – even if there are some flops along the way – that will bring more consumer beverage choices not involving traditional soft drinks. “We need to learn, move on, and reinvent,” he said, noting that the company accepts the fact that beverages like water, juices, and tea may comprise the portfolio of the future, alongside traditional, and innovative, Coca-Cola soda brands. Quincey realizes that investors are looking for some excitement to rev up the company’s stock price, and even let on that further acquisitions are a possibility. And, significantly, he did not nix the possibility of entering the food or alcoholic beverage markets. “Never say never,” he told a CNN interviewer.
