Dole Finds Its Sustainability Claims Being Challenged In Court

November 20, 2012: 12:00 AM EST
Seattle-based law firm Hagens Berman sued Dole, alleging the company knowingly bought bananas from growers in Guatemala whose plantation operations have destroyed wetlands and contaminated water sources with pesticides. The lawsuit alleges Dole has been making false sustainability claims, including its announcement in 2011 to sell bananas from farms certified by the Sustainable Agriculture Network.
