Monster Beverage Posts Sales Increases In First Quarter

Despite persistent production problems, Monster Beverage Corporation posted first quarter net sales of $742.1 million, up 9.1 percent over last year’s first quarter. Net sales for Energy Drinks increased 7.5 percent to $668.6 million for 2017 first quarter, from $621.7 million for same period last year. Net sales for Strategic Brands segment (i.e., NOS, Full Throttle, other energy drinks managed under partnership with Coca-Cola) were $68 million, up 16.4 percent from $58.5 million. CEO Rodney Sacks cited growth internationally, continued realigning of distribution with Coca-Cola bottlers, and potential of new product innovations.
