Nestle May Sell Its $30 Billion Investment In L’Oreal

February 8, 2014: 12:00 AM EST
Nestlé is trying to figure out how to end its 40-year – and $30 billion – involvement in cosmetics firm L’Oreal. Though Nestlé has no urgent need to sell its 29.5 percent stake, a 10-year right of first refusal agreement with the Bettencourt family, which owns 30 percent of L’Oreal's stock, is about to expire. Selling of the stock could take years to complete, but Nestlé’s directors say they are focusing "with great attention in the framework of the group's global nutrition, health and wellness strategy".
