U.S. Snack Company Amplify Buys Tyrells

Austin, Texas-based Amplify Snack Brands, maker of “better-for-you” snack brands, announced it will buy Crisps Topco Limited and Subsidiaries (Tyrrells), a U.K.-based premium snack food business. The transaction is valued at about $389 million in cash and Amplify stock. Investcorp is the owner of the Tyrells companies, which are located in the U.K., Australia, Germany, and other European countries. Its brands include Tyrrells Potato Crisps, Vegetable Crisps, Poshcorn, Nibbles, etc. Tyrrells generated $111 million in net sales for the 12 months ended June 30, 2016. Its sales growth rate was 23 percent from 2013 through fiscal 2016. Amplify’s brands include SkinnyPop, Paqui and Oatmega.
